This section has been designed to help parents navigate every stage of the admission process — from online registration through to the commencement of the academic session. It outlines the procedures, timelines, eligibility criteria, assessment process and admission formalities to ensure a smooth and transparent experience.

We encourage all parents to go through the section carefully before commencing the online registration process.

Applications are invited for admission to the following classes for the Academic Session 2027–28.

Students of all nationalities are eligible to apply. The Newtown School follows a fair and transparent admission process and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, caste, creed, colour or nationality.

2. The Tuition Fees, Transport Fees and Annual Fees are subject to revision on an annual basis.
3. Payments are to be made in either of the following methods:
   • Fees Payable during admission to be paid via the link sent to you in the selection letter over e-mail.
   • Regular fee payment after the completion of admission formalities can be made via Agorae App or Jodo E-Nach setup (details to be shared post admission formalities completion).
4. In case of withdrawal of admission post completion of formalities, the application shall be processed in accordance with the refund policy available on the School website. For a detailed refund policy, parents are advised to visit our website www.ntskolkata.org.

The Admission Journey at a Glance

Applying to The Newtown School is a simple, step-by-step process. Parents can conveniently complete each stage through the Admission Portal while tracking the progress of their application in real time.

1. Create your Admission Portal account using your mobile number/email ID.
2. Complete your child's registration by filling in the online application form.
3. Upload required documents.
4. Pay the registration fee.
5. Download the Admit Card & syllabus.
6. Attend the assessment.
7. Attend the interaction. (For applicants to Class IV onwards, the interaction will be scheduled only after successful clearance of the assessment.)
8. Receive the admission decision.
9. Complete admission formalities.
10. Attend the Orientation Programme.
11. Commencement of the academic session.

Who Can Apply

Age Eligibility

For admission in the Academic Session 2027–28, eligibility of a candidate to a particular class will be based on the candidate's age as on 31 March 2027. Class-wise age criteria are as follows:

Academic Eligibility (Classes IV–IX)

Applicants seeking admission to Classes IV–IX should have secured the following percentage in the last class completed:

• A minimum of 50% marks individually in English and any four other subjects.
• An overall aggregate of 60% or above in these five subjects.

Students awaiting their final examination results may also apply. Admission shall, however, remain subject to the fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility criteria upon declaration of results.

Be Ready Before You Begin

Before beginning the online registration process, please ensure that the following are readily available.

• Certified divorce/custody court order specifying guardianship and pickup rights, if applicable

Photographs

Upload recent, high-quality, colour passport-size photographs (3.5 cm × 4.5 cm) of the student and both parents/legal guardians, taken against a plain, solid-colour background. The student and parents/legal guardians must be dressed in formal attire, and the photographs must be clear, front-facing, and free from any obstructions.

How to Register

Parents are required to click on the "The Newtown School – Admission Portal" link on the school's website. They must create an account, log in to the portal, and register their ward through the "Register Ward & Apply" section. Parents are required to create only one account on the Admission Portal, through which they may apply for admission for one or more children. To submit an application for a second or subsequent child, click on "Add New Ward" and follow the same application process. The application of your ward can be tracked through the Admission Portal at every stage.

The registration process is completed upon uploading self-attested scanned copies of the required documents and making an online payment of the registration fee of ₹2,500.

Students Returning from Abroad

How Assessments Work

Students seeking admission are assessed on their learning readiness across age-appropriate parameters, depending on the class applied for. Assessment dates are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis; requests to reschedule will not be entertained. Failing to appear on the scheduled date will result in the registration being cancelled. Parents can track status at every stage via the Status Tracker panel.

Pre-Nursery to Class III

Children are assessed by our teachers, followed by an interactive session with School Authorities, which the child attends along with both parents or a single parent/legal guardian.

Classes IV to IX

Applicants appear for a computer-based test, on a separate day from the interaction. Only one parent needs to accompany the child on assessment day. If the child clears the assessment, parents are notified that the child has been selected for an interaction with the Principal.

How Decisions Are Made

Selection is based on the information provided in the online registration form, assessment results and (where applicable) the interaction. Results are communicated to parents via email and WhatsApp on the registered contact details, and the final status is also reflected on the Status Tracker panel of the Admission Portal.

Confirming Your Child's Place

Once selected, parents receive a Selection Letter by email, WhatsApp and on the portal, specifying the deadline to complete admission. Admission is deemed complete upon:

• Payment of the requisite fee through the "Payments" panel, and
• Submission of the documents specified in the Selection Letter through the "Post-Admission" panel.

Through the "Post-Admission" panel, parents must fill and submit the Medical Form, Pre-Admission Undertaking, and Sports & Club preferences (as applicable). The Doctor's Certificate must be downloaded from this panel, completed by a doctor, and re-uploaded.

Fees Payable at Admission

At admission, please be ready to pay the Admission Fee (Part I), Security Deposit, first-quarter Tuition Fee and the Annual Fee.

For parents opting for part payment of the Admission Fee, the Admission Fee (Part II) must be submitted via a post-dated cheque dated 1 March 2027, within the due date specified in the Selection Letter. To pay Part II at the time of admission instead, please notify the Admissions Team in advance by email. Upon receiving the request, the Admissions Team will share a separate link for making the online payment.

Documents Required After Admission

It is mandatory for all admitted students to submit the following documents within 7 days of commencement of the academic session.

• Original Transfer Certificate from the last attended school
• Transfer Certificate from the State Government Education Portal, if applicable
• Self-attested copy of the final Report Card / Mark Sheet
• PEN (Permanent Education Number), if applicable
• UDISE No. of the last attended school, if applicable

The School Management reserves the right to have the final word in all matters related to the admission procedure.

Transport Registration

School transport is available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to seat availability on your route. To register, access the transport registration form via the link provided in your Selection Letter. Otherwise, form for transport registration will also be aviable in the post-admission window of the admission portal. The School's Transport Department will then get in touch directly to take the process forward.

The Orientation Programme is an important occasion — a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other and appreciate the vision and mission of the School.

Sale of Books, Uniform and Stationery

At The Newtown School, we ensure uniformity and equality of all children and that is why we advise our parents to purchase the uniform, books and stationery from the school's authorized Tuck Shop. The tentative dates for the distribution of the same are as under:
